Keep Australia Beautiful Week (4-10 August) is a timely reminder of one of the College’s most significant environmental challenges; waste.
Despite outstanding achievements outlined in the College’s latest Green Report, the annual report found that reducing waste to landfill still needs collective ongoing efforts.
The College has many curriculum initiatives across all year levels to encourage students to become ‘stewards of the environment’.
These include Year 1 hands-on learning about composting, Year 6 ‘war on waste’ weekly cleanups of lunchtime rubbish, the Middle and Senior School ‘Cans for Cadets’ scheme, the Year 4 battery recycling blitz and much more.
The theme of Keep Australia Beautiful Week is ‘picking up the pieces’, encouraging everyone to spend just 10 minutes a week picking up litter.
