Year 9s present their personal best

Year 9 Personal Best projects have once again showcased an impressive and diverse range of creative ideas at recent exhibitions.

At Pakenham Campus, Emma and Jewel each built a set of show jumps for horse riding. Both students actively compete and plan to use the jumps for practice. Nicholas, who will be studying photography next year, captured a stunning series of wildlife photographs on his family’s property for his project. Meanwhile, Owen constructed and welded an impressive metal phoenix sculpture for his family’s garden.

Several students focused on automotive projects, including the reconditioning and rebuilding of vehicles such as four-wheel drives, dirt bikes, a boat, and even a speedway race car.

At Berwick Campus, Chayodh pursued his passion for go-karting by fully reconditioning a go-kart he purchased. His work included refining the engine, upgrading the hydraulic brakes, and welding the brake pads to make the kart became fully functional.

Some students built instruments from scratch, including talented bass player Jakob, who was inspired by his bass teacher to craft a five-string bass guitar. Others explored technology, like Ken, who created a two-minute stop-motion movie trailer using LEGO and Stop Motion Studio software.

Creative and unique ideas included Zachary earning a lifeguard qualification, motivated by his goal to help others in the water, and Grace learning a new instrument, the saxophone. Other students showcased their skills in woodworking, clothing design, and crafting merchandise. A few even created their own cookbooks, featuring a mix of original and favourite recipes.
