Year 6 students from Berwick Campus’ ‘Environmental Superheroes’ club enjoyed an incursion with the Westernport Biosphere Foundation last Tuesday, where they completed a water audit. The organisation worked with students to check all water outlets for leaks, sample water from the catchment at the back of the Campus for invertebrates, and plant indigenous plants to help with filtering and absorbing water.
Sustainability and Environment Coordinator Kobi Van Raay will also be planting indigenous plants donated by the Cardinia Environment Coalition around the pond at the front of the Pakenham Campus to create habitat and improve water quality. A fountain was recently installed, which helps to prevent algae growth.
