Success at Berthe Mouchette competition

On Tuesday, nearly 350 people gathered at St Kilda Town Hall to celebrate the award winners of the 129th Berthe Mouchette Poetry Competition.

This historic competition, established in 1894 by Mrs. Berthe Mouchette – founder of the Alliance Française de Melbourne, has grown from its humble beginnings, where at the time only 80 students signed up in its first year. Now it has become the largest French-language poetry competition outside France, boasting nearly 9,000 participants from 92 schools across Victoria!

Beaconhills College is proud to announce the achievements of two outstanding students:

Manuth Galabada Widanarachchige (Year 11, Berwick Campus) was awarded second prize for being best overall Year 11 student, and Bilshan (Year 8, Pakenham Campus) received a special mention from the jury for his poetry recital. Congratulations to Manuth and Bilshan on your incredible accomplishments in this prestigious event.
