It is with great pleasure that we share the wonderful news that Clare Tuohy – former Head of Citizenship and Service, has been selected as a finalist for Sustainability Victoria‘s ResourceSmart Schools Teacher of the Year (Secondary) Award, for her hard work promoting social and environmental justice.
Clare has driven various programs at the College, including the Beacon of Hope Community Garden at Pakenham campus, where during 2020 and 2021 she worked in collaboration with Sustain: The Australian Food Network, Flourish and the Cardinia Food Movement to grow fresh produce to help fight food insecurity in our local region.
The community garden helps build an awareness and passion for gardening and provides a wellbeing area to lead extracurricular gardening programs for our students.
Clare also established the College’s involvement with SolarBuddy, where Science and Technology students build solar-powered lights to help the lives of children living in energy poverty in developing countries.
Finalists will be attending an awards ceremony at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 2 June 2022.
Wishing you the best of luck Clare!
