Over the January school holidays, Year 11 student Sarah Lockwood from the Pakenham Campus was selected to join OzTheatrics’ Aussie All-Stars, alongside 60 other performers. She had the opportunity to travel to New York to watch a wide range of Broadway shows, including Beetlejuice, Some Like it Hot and MJ: The Musical.

Shortly after, Sarah’s group went straight into rehearsals for their performance piece, Shrek Jr, that was showcased at the Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) in Atlanta. The festival was host to 6,500 other like-minded students, from America, Canada and England. At the end of the event, the Aussie All-Stars won an award for ‘Most Inspirational Performance’, which was received by only three out of 128 groups.

The whole trip then finished off with a journey to Los Angeles, where the group participated in the Imagination Campus Workshop at Disneyland. This provided them all with an insight into what it’s like to work and perform at Disney. Sarah was also lucky enough to spot celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Gaten Matarazzo and Todrick Hall, making it an experience she ‘will never forget’.
