The new sporting hub is well underway at Berwick Campus!
This project involves a complete redevelopment of the ovals located on the western side of the campus. The main oval is currently being completely rebuilt, which involves a replacement of the playing surface, installation of underground drainage and a new irrigation system.
As part of this transformation, a new multipurpose synthetic grass court complex is being developed on what was the smaller oval. The fully lit courts will support a wide range of sporting activities, including hockey, soccer and tennis, allowing for year-round participation and use.
Located under the courts will be water storage tanks to capture stormwater from both the oval and courts. With the capacity to store approximately 150,000 litres, this system will provide a sustainable additional source of irrigation for the main oval, with any overflow directed back into the stormwater network.
Works on the project are expected to be completed by mid-July, subject to weather conditions. While the main oval will remain unavailable until such time as the new grass is established, the multipurpose courts will be available for use in term 3 this year and we look forward to unveiling a first-class sporting precinct for our College community.
