Beaconhills College has officially launched Focus Forward, an exciting new series designed to help students, parents and staff navigate today’s fast-paced digital world.

Running throughout the year, the program will feature forums, events and resources to keep our community informed, connected and prepared for online challenges.

The series launched last week at the College’s Berwick Campus with a public event that brought families and community members together to hear expert insights on topics including social media laws, cyberbullying, data protection and gaming.

Keynote speakers included Kirra Pendergast, founder of Ctrl+Shft and a leading expert in cybersecurity and online safety, clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller, who explored the impact of screen time on children’s brains, and Davina Berger from Wait Mate, who shared practical strategies for delaying smartphone use until high school.

Executive Principal Stephen McGinley emphasised the importance of collaboration between parents and the College.

“Helping our students navigate the opportunities and risks of the digital world is a responsibility we share as a community,” he said. “With technology playing such a significant role in our students’ lives, it’s vital that we feel informed, confident and ready for the challenges ahead.”
