Congratulations to our Berwick campus 2025 graduate Owen Whitcher, whose Product Design and Technology project has been selected for Top Designs as part of the VCE Season of Excellence.

Owen’s bonsai plant stand combines lighting, horticultural and sustainable features, with a magnetic compartment for phone storage. Inspired by concerns around declining mental health, the design aims to bring horticultural therapy into the bedroom as a positive outlet.

Owen used CAD software, laser cutting and 3D printing, blending traditional and emerging technologies. This year Owen is studying a double degree in Engineering and Industrial Design at Monash University and hopes to become a product design engineer.
