Year 6 student Audrey Jiang has a passion for maths. And she will put her skills to the test in the global competition round of the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad on 15 January 2022.
Audrey qualified for the international competition after earning a bronze medal in the regional online event in August.
A student at the College’s Pakenham Campus, Audrey describes maths as one of her favourite subjects.
“It is really fun, challenging and helpful for many other subjects… it helps me with my problem-solving skills,” Audrey said.
She said the competition was quite hard, with multiple choice and short-answer questions.
“The question with algebra was the most challenging – it was difficult because the question was complicated and it isn’t the kind that I normally do,” she said.
As well as enjoying maths, Audrey is also a talented pianist and is preparing for her AMEB Grade 8 piano exam.
