A lesson on food insecurity

Year 9 and 10 students at Pakenham Campus learnt about food insecurity today through an engaging session run by the College’s Head of Citizenship and Service Sarah Dyce. The session covered the prevalence and contributing factors of food insecurity and how to support people experiencing it.

They were then given a tour of a Vinnies Soup Van – a service which six staff members from the College volunteer with once a month to provide food aid and social support at 10 different sites throughout the region. Students also assist this program by preparing soup as part of the Food Technology subject.
