Berwick Campus student Yash Pednekar has made the Australia Under 16s cricket squad.

Cricket Australia announced the squad recently, following the School Sport Australia 15 and Under Boys’ National Championship held in Queensland.

Yash, who is in Year 10, said he was excited to be part of the 14-player squad. He was one of just two Victorian players chosen.

The keen batsman is now looking forward to playing in the Under 17 National Championships next summer in Brisbane.

Physical Education teacher Adam Wright said Yash’s selection for the squad was “a great achievement.”

“He has worked really hard on his cricket over the last few years and has been the backbone of our school teams’ successes since Year 7,” Mr Wright said.

Yash was part of the winning intermediate boys’ cricket team (Berwick Campus) which won the recent summer SEISA (South Eastern Independent Schools Association) finals.
