I believe good education should embrace modern technology.
Some recent media coverage has focused on the negatives of learning technologies in education. One Sydney independent school has banned all devices in the classroom. But it is also important to remember the enormous benefits that technology delivers.
iPads were never intended to replace student and teacher interaction, but to enhance and support students’ learning, enabling them to access information, extend their learning and become good global and local citizens.
Our one-to-one iPad program has allowed our students to access information from around the world and to challenge their ideas against the world’s best.
I recommend an article here by Beaconhills’ Pakenham Campus eLearning Co-ordinator Scott Wallace, which explains the rationale behind our technology program.
