Beaconhills’ Head of Visual Arts (Pakenham Campus), John Irving, has extolled the virtues of the College’s vibrant artist-in-residence program at Canberra’s National Gallery of Australia.

Mr Irving was invited to present at the recent National Visual Arts Conference, which attracted delegates from across Australia and overseas.

He told delegates that Beaconhills students benefited from a unique visual arts offering of art camps, international programs and artist-in-residence programs.

“These programs connect art practice to theory, strongly reinforcing the value of artists, artworks and art teaching,” Mr Irving said. “They expand students’ awareness of art and give them the opportunity to reflect upon the importance of art and creativity in our lives.”
