Completing a PhD is always an impressive achievement. Beaconhills Berwick Campus teacher John Bellavance will soon join the learned group of individuals who can add the title of ‘Dr’ to their names.
John, who teachers Years 10-12 Information and Communication Technology (ICT), received excellent marks for his PhD completed through the faculty of education at Monash University.
His thesis focused on values education with respect to the use of ICTs by high school students. His findings suggested that parent involvement, students’ own experiences and moral responses while using ICTs, along with positive peer pressure, were the most important in fostering the moral use of ICTs in student participants.
