Top Class dance star

Dance student Ruby Thornton-Mackay has been chosen to perform in Top Class at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 16 March.

The Berwick Campus Year 12 student will perform her 2021 VCE skills-based dance solo.

Top Class is part of the VCE Season of Excellence, managed by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and presents 11 concerts by outstanding VCE performing arts students who have completed; Music Performance, Music Investigation, Music Style and Composition, VCE VET Music Industry, Dance, Drama and Theatre Studies.

Ruby has trained in ballet and contemporary dance for 12 years and completed VCE Units 3 and 4 Dance during Year 11 last year.

Choreography and rehearsals for her October scheduled performance started last summer and she is very thankful for the help of Tracie Eastwood – Head of Performing Arts, Berwick Campus.

“I am very grateful for all the hours Ms Eastwood invested, it definitely wouldn’t have been possible without her help”, Ruby said.
