Students learn to cook Vietnamese cuisine

Year 9 students at our Pakenham Campus today had a visit from the staff of local restaurant, Lanterns Viet Kitchen, for a lesson in authentic Vietnamese cooking.

Students tried their hand at making chicken rice paper rolls and were also given workshops on the intricacies of the Vietnamese language and traditional story telling methods.

For student Portia Hall this incursion was her first experience of Vietnamese culture. “I’ve never had rice paper rolls before but they are really nice and it was interesting to learn some Vietnamese words for greeting and different foods” she said.
