Many thousands of children in Cardinia, Casey, and surrounding regions have benefited from a Beaconhills College education in the last 40 years.

It’s hard to believe that the founding students of this school (pictured) are now all past the age of 50. I’m glad that many of our alumni returned to ‘rediscover’ the College during celebrations on our Open Day on Saturday 30 April.

Beaconhills College has come of age. We often talk about our humble beginnings ⁠– and they truly were. Our founding staff and families had to pull together to establish our College, from the moment the concept of an independent Christian school in the local region was floated. Staff and parents physically built the school, often recycling pre-used resources. Families volunteered their time and raised funds, and staff went without pay in times of need to support the community.

As a learning community, we owe so much to the power of the aspirations of our founders and the vision that they saw for our future that we enjoy today. These people gave their time, talent, and treasure, not for personal gain, but for the benefit of others. For that we are truly grateful. 

That spirit of innovation and resilience set by our founders is still strong within our College. It is what has shaped us as a community-focused school, where service to others with a collective approach continues to make a difference to our students, local community, and the wider world.

Beaconhills is a school that welcomes all. It stands for opportunities for all, for inclusion over exclusion, for peace over conflict. A place of innovation that sees its moral purpose in providing contemporary programs that best prepare our young people for their future.

A further future awaits, another 40 years as we now work to realise a vision for those who will follow. We stand ready to shape a future that is full of opportunities – “redefining success from being the best in the world, to being the best for the world.” (Ash Buchanan, benefit mindset theorist).

We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the 40th anniversary of the College and acknowledge the enormous contributions of so many.
