Little Beacons Learning Centre is officially a very healthy early childhood service, becoming one of just two early learning centre in Cardinia Shire to complete the State Government’s Achievement Program.

The program is part of a state-wide prevention initiative aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and improving the places where people live, learn, work and play.

Little Beacons has now ticked off the final ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing’ benchmark, the last of six health priority areas.

Head of Little Beacons, Vicki Reid, said she was delighted with significant milestone and congratulated the centre’s educators involved in the working group.

“Health and wellbeing is a shared responsibility between Little Beacons and families,” she said. “Our College community has been very supportive of our ongoing reflective practice and it has been exciting to have children leading conversations in this area.”

The five health priority areas Little Beacons has already achieved are ‘Safe Environments’, ‘Sun Protection’, ‘Tobacco Control’, ‘Physical Activity’ and ‘Healthy Eating and Oral Health’.
