With new members, new uniforms and an exciting line-up of events, the relaunched Beaconhills Equestrian Club has big plans for 2015.

Middle School teacher Michelle Wong, who teaches riding at local pony clubs, is co-ordinating the multi-campus club and hopes to attract many new members from Junior through to Senior School.

“With the inclusion now of Junior School, we will have well over 40 students involved,” Ms Wong said. “My goal is to get our competition numbers up over 20. I am also currently working on new equestrian uniforms, ensuring that Beaconhills will stand out from the crowd.”

One of the exciting new initiatives is a Junior Saddle Club program, which Middle School club members will help run.

The club is encouraging younger students who enjoy ‘all things equestrian’ to join the Junior Saddle Club, even if they don’t own a horse. Ms Wong plans to run outings once a term to a local riding school.

She also invites students who do have a horse and are currently competing to join Beaconhills Equestrian to ride under the College banner.

The team will compete this Saturday (14 March) at Hillcrest College, Clyde, in the first of four rounds of a dressage challenge.

Beaconhills Equestrian’s first clinic for the year will be held on 27 March at the Hallam Valley Pony Club in Narre Warren East.
