Winding down: Amy and her horse Sharvalley Amazing relax after the nationals

Year 6 student Amy W and her horse ‘Sharvalley Amazing’ competed in the Australian Interschool Championships held in Sydney over the Term 3 holidays.

Amy participated in the Combined Training to finish fourth in dressage and sixth overall, with the Victorian team placing third.

Despite jumping beautifully, Sharvalley Amazing was unplaced in the showjumping, but Amy said next year he would be a “force to be reckoned with”.

“He is a very young horse, very talented, but still has a lot to learn,” she said.

Amy said the whole experience was similar to being at the Olympics and she made many new friends. She thanked Beaconhills College and Equestrian Co-ordinator Michelle Wong for supporting her in the competition.

“Being part of the Beaconhills Equestrian team has been exciting – I am looking forward to next year,” she said.
