Learning that Matters
Congratulations to Year 7 Pakenham Campus student Milie Paterson (pictured bottom right) who earned equal first place at the Legacy Public Speaking Competition held on Tuesday at the Dandenong RSL.
Mile spoke on the topic of ‘Fantasy World’, while other students from our multi-campus team discussed Personal Effort, Sacrifice and Perseverance. A great team effort from Milie and fellow students Katelyn Reynolds, Kane Blake, Jessica Peiris, Sineth Wickramasinghe, Adil Sujithkumar and Keegan Healey. Milie now goes on to the preliminary finals on 11 September.
What an incredible result from our generous donations to the FeedMelbourne appeal! We have donated a massive 1020kg of pasta, tinned tomatoes and plain flour, beating last year’s effort of 850kg. That equates to around 6120 meals for people in need this winter, produced by the FareShare kitchen.
CEO of FeedMelbourne Katherine Gokavi-Whaley said it was an “amazing response” from the Beaconhills community and thanked everyone who contributed. She said when 140,000 Victorians struggle to put a meal on the table at some time each month, “the whole community has to be part of the solution.”
Beaconhills’ Head of Citizenship and Service Clare Tuohy said she was thrilled with the College community’s response to the appeal.
