Supporting Your Child

Beaconhills College is committed to providing strong pastoral care to our community. Fostering the development of each individual, the academic and pastoral care structure of the College is designed to support students of every age.

The House system at Beaconhills compliments the development of students throughout their learning journey. The vertically integrated system divides Middle and Senior School into eight Houses, each section led by a Head of House. The Houses are then split into tutor groups of 18 – 20 students and led by a tutor.

The staffing structure at Beaconhills ensures all students are provided with appropriate pastoral care. These services are delivered through the dedication and care of:

  • Class Teachers (Junior School)
  • Tutors (Middle, Year 9 and Senior School)
  • Heads of House
  • Head of Students
  • Student Welfare Officer
  • Chaplain
  • Careers Counsellor
  • College Nurse and First Aid Attendant

The classroom teacher is the first point of contact for all students in the Junior School (Preparatory –Year 4).

Students in Middle School (Years 5-8) will be supported by their Tutors and are encouraged to discuss any issues or concerns directly with them.  Over time, the students often build a strong and trusting relationship with their Tutors and feel comfortable approaching them for guidance.

Students in Year 9 and Senior School (Years 10-12) require specific support as they identify their social and learning pathways and prepare for life beyond Beaconhills.  Supported by their Tutors, students are given individual access to professionals in the areas of career guidance and pastoral care.

Beaconhills College also provides families with a range of seminars and information that help to develop understanding and promote wellbeing.  These topics occur regularly and include a variety of subjects such as:

  • Raising Teenagers
  • Cyber bullying
  • Choices for Life
