Beaconhills College Announces Development of New Sports Complex for Community Use

May 22, 2009

Beaconhills College in Pakenham is pleased to announce a new, 6,600 square metre, multi- purpose sports complex will be constructed at its Valley Campus in Toomuc Valley Road, Pakenham.

The synthetic grass multi-purpose courts will be constructed over the next 5 months, and will comprise a full size hockey pitch, provision for 10 tennis courts, as well as areas for netball, volleyball, handball and basketball.

The all-weather playing surface will complement the current areas of open space at the Campus, and provide the opportunity for other local community groups to use the facility outside of school hours.

Acting Head of Valley Campus, Mr Richard Prideaux, said “The College is extremely excited at the prospect of having this state of the art facility, as it will provide even further opportunities for our students to experience a wide range of sporting activities.  The Campus has an existing set of hard courts that will now be replaced with a wonderful playing surface that will be suited to all weather conditions. This sports complex enables the College to host a wide range of sporting tournaments and events as it will have a venue to equal the best in the region”.

The College has contracted Kevin McNamara and Sons to build the facility in Pakenham, following the successful delivery by the developers, of a smaller scale facility at the College’s Village Campus in Berwick.

Funding for the project has been received from the Federal Government’s School’s BER Pride Programme, together with contributions from the College and the State Government’s Capital Funding programme.

Works will commence shortly and will be completed over the next 4-5 months.
