Little Beacons Learning Centre
May, 2009
Beaconhills College’s third campus, the Little Beacons Learning Centre, was officially opened and dedicated on Tuesday 19 May by the Right Revd. Dr John Wilson, the recently retired Bishop of the Southern Region of the Melbourne Anglican Diocese.
Located on Toomuc Valley Rd, Pakenham, the Little Beacons Learning Centre has been fully operational since the beginning of 2009. It previously operated in 2008 in the Lakeside Kindergarten and the Berwick Uniting Church while the new state of the art facilities were being completed.
Prayers for the new campus were offered by Rev. Dr Warren Bartlett, former Moderator of the Uniting Church of Australia, Synod of Vict. He was joined at the opening ceremony by all those associated with this exciting new development for the College, including the architects, builders and interior designers . Many local educationalists were also in attendance to take the opportunity to view the new facilities.
The Headmaster of Beaconhills College, Mr Tony Sheumack, welcomed the guests and shared a little of the journey experienced by himself and the planning group. In response, the Centre’s Head of Campus, Ms Vicki Reid, gave s succinct address highlighting the philosophy of the learning centre, in particular the importance of play in a child’s social, emotional and intellectual development.
The assembled guests were also entertained by the children of the 4/5-Year-Old group with an action song and a presentation on what they enjoyed most about Little Beacons.
The Little Beacons Learning Centre has already proved to be very successful, with over 250 children enrolled in its various care and Early Learning Programmes for children from birth to five years old.
