Beaconhills College Officially Opens Human Movement Centre at their Berwick Campus

May 29, 2009

Over 50 dignitaries were present this morning at the Berwick campus of Beaconhills College, when The Hon. Judith Graley, State Member for Narre Warren South, officially opened the latest development, a Human Movement and Food Technology Centre.

The Human Movement Centre incorporates a double-court indoor stadium, change rooms, storage, staff areas and a fully equipped weights and aerobics room. The Food Technology Centre includes two classrooms, a dining room and preparation area.

The building completes the seventh stage of development for the College resulting in the finalisation of the internal ring road, the release of a further 55 car parking spaces and the physical amalgamation with the existing Performing Arts building.

The development, which commenced in February 2008, took ten months to complete, at a cost of $4.9million. A Federal Government grant of $250,000 contributed to toward the cost of construction, with College families funding the balance.

The design of the purpose built facility reflects the College’s commitment to the environment. The building has been fitted with rain water tanks which service all bathroom and toilet facilities within. The buildings were designed with a northerly aspect to assist with lighting, heating and ventilation.

The College welcomes enquiries from other local community groups who are interested in the opportunity to use the facility outside of school hours. Please contact David Young, Business Manager on 1300 002 225.
