Students support fellow citizens across Cardinia
March 17, 2009
In past years the 4C’s (Cardinia Combined Churches Caring) food bank sent a car to Beaconhills College to collect the tinned food donated by students – now, they send a truck!
Students from Preparatory to Year 12 at Beaconhills College demonstrated once again their commitment to community service with their amazing fundraising effort of nearly 4,200 cans of food collected for the 4Cs Emergency Food bank.
“Beaconhills has a proud history and commitment to community service and has been delighted to support the 4cs Emergency Food bank again this year. The students thoroughly enjoy the challenge of beating their 'cans collected' targets each year, knowing that their efforts support a much needed programme in our local community”, said Rev. Peggy Kruse, Beaconhills Chaplain (Valley Campus) and Community Services Co-ordinator.
The 4Cs Emergency Food bank in Pakenham is run entirely by volunteers and provides food to people in the shire who are needy, disadvantaged, homeless and those in crisis.
The College chose to support the worthwhile cause as part of their ‘giving and service programme’, which aims to educate students about social issues, contribute to the broader local and international communities and encourage young people to participate in activities that develop their social conscience.
