Performing Arts showcased at the Winter Concert

June, 2009

The Village Campus 2009 Winter Concert showcased many exceptional music, dance, speech and drama items, in a fresh new format with the emphasis on bringing the students and performing groups closer to the audience. In between each main stage item, the audience was regaled from three smaller platform stages set in front of the main stage, with performances from the many smaller ensembles while the set-up crew prepared the larger stage for the next act. Not only did this make the transition between acts much smoother and faster, it also allowed the appreciative audience to be given a taste of the diverse range of music practiced, perfected and performed by the Performing Arts students.

With over 400 guests in the audience, there were some stunning performances from the VCE music students, four different rock bands had the feet tapping, the new Training Concert Band was a hit, Two Unit 1 Drama solos impressed everyone, and the Rock Eisteddfod Team gave everyone a preview glimpse of the progress of their ‘Superheroes’ routine.

With over 250 students presenting 44 different items, the concert finished with a finale, which was a massed item involving all students joining together to thank the audience for their attendance and appreciation.

It was a very successful event, and all students and staff are to be congratulated on presenting such a professional evening of Performing Arts items.

Head of Performing Arts, Wes Smith said “It was a wonderful night of extremely high quality performances by students in Year 5 as young as 10 through to our talented 17 and 18 year old VCE Performing Arts students”. “The four stage performance areas certainly made the concert more enjoyable to the audience and allowed us to present great diversity in styles and ensemble types”

Congratulations to all students and staff for coming together to present an outstanding event for the Beaconhills College community.
