Steven with his remote control boat Top Design 2009 - Systems EngineeringFebruary 18, 2009 To be seen in the Melbourne Museum from 21 Mar - 26 Jul 2009 Beaconhills is again celebrating outstanding achievements for four of its students with two students’ work being selected for Top Design and two students’ work being shortlisted for Systems Engineering 2008. Year 12 Valley Campus student Steven Luxford’s remote control powered boat was selected as one of the top few works in the state for Systems Engineering 2008 . Steven constructed the hull from fibre glass and the engine was sourced from a whipper snipper. Year 12 (2008) Village Campus student, Stewart Jackson’s Systems Engineering project was also selected for Top Design. Focussing on the application of programmable robots in industrial situations, Stewart’s project led him to research, design and construct a functioning programmable robot . Stewart is the first Year 12 student from the Berwick campus to be selected for the Top Designs exhibition. Year 12 2008 students, Ben Szabo’s and Alexand Anketell’s work were shortlisted for the exhibition. Alexand’s Xbox chair was pneumatically controlled. The chair moved forward and backward when the accelerator or brake was pushed and moved left and right with the steering wheel. Beaconhills College has enjoyed several successes from the Technology Department in Systems Engineering over the last few years with students achievements including:
