Year 8 Beaconhills College students had the opportunity to help create some tactile picture books for blind and vision impaired children, thanks to a visit by educators from Berwick’s Insight Education.
The students were taught to build the books by using their own story, or modifying an existing picture book by pasting different materials onto the images. Braille text inserts are then included.
Beaconhills’ Head of Citizenship and Service Clare Tuohy said it was wonderful for students to be able to provide support and resources for the library at Insight Education Centre for the Blind and Vision Impaired. Students who are involved are completing their ‘Certificate of Excellence’.
