After studying a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Sociology) and Bachelor of Social Welfare, and briefly working as a youth worker, I then packed my bags to do some travelling overseas. I have travelled to over 100 countries where I worked in various fields of employment. I also enjoyed volunteer work in India, Africa and Asia (after surviving being in Phucket on a yacht).
On my travels, seven years ago, I came across the Super Yacht industry and haven’t left. I am currently Chief Stewardess and work on Eric Clapton’s 48m private yacht, which is also used for chartering.
My responsibilities involve the overall smooth running and operation of the interior department which consists of four crew. My role involves the organisation of guests’ travel and entertainment including booking restaurants, organising day trips, overseeing onboard functions (Cannes’ Film festival and Monacco Grand Prix parties) and accounts. My other duties involve provisioning, interior rosters, liasing with the chef, interior detailing, cabin preparation, silver service and bar. We run with twelve crew and I oversee their uniforms and shopping etc. There’s no job profile as such – a day could involve organising fun days, themed dinners, entertaining kids or playing games.
This year I also was involved in a new build in Holland, costing 100 million dollars, and a refit with a new owner taking over. My job was to organise the design and fit-out of the interior.
