Technology Gallery
Technology studies encompass a range of hands-on and creative subjects – Design and Technology which includes Product or Fashion Design, Systems Engineering and Food Technology.
Students gain an understanding of how products are designed, made and used in our society. It gives students the opportunity to gain skills, acquire knowledge, demonstrate creativity and learn from existing products on how they are made while also reflecting on the designing and making process. Gaining skills in basic Computer Aided Design and Manufacture are also elements of the courses.
Systems Engineering
Systems Engineering is a practical based subject that seeks to develop an understanding of electronics, circuit manufacturing, and mechanical systems. Students follow the design process to investigate, design, construct and evaluate products. Student integrate electronics and mechanics to create an amazing range of products. Systems Engineering is taught in both Middle School and Senior School.
At VCE levels, Systems Engineering encompasses mechanical and electro-technology engineering fundamentals, systems engineering and energy where students will construct products and systems supported with a design folio.

- Chris L. Year 12. A remote controlled car, constructed around a whipper snipper engine.
- Steven L. Year 12. A remote controlled speed boat, constructed around a whipper snipper engine with an original fibre glass mold.
- Scott F. Year 12. Full sized Air Hockey Table with electronic score display.
- Levineshumar B. Year 10. Systems Engineering
- Nicholas B. Year 10. Systems Engineering.
- Steven B. Unit 2 VCE. Systems Engineering.
- Nathan, Year 12 Valley Campus student, designed and constructed an Automatic Robotic Hand constructed in three parts; a sensor, a controller unit and the hand itself.
The ‘hand’ has been chosen as one of the top two works for Systems Engineering students across the state.
Industrial Product
Industrial Design and Technology emphasis is on product design using materials such as wood, metal and plastic. Design and Technology are taught in both Middle School and Senior School.
VCE Design and Technology subjects are “design and make” courses, developing a design folio and producing a 3-dimensional product using materials such as wood, metal and plastic. Students typically produce furniture but are limited only by their imagination. Developing an understanding of how designers and manufacturers work in the professional workplace is also a theme of the courses.

Fashion and Textile
Fashion and Textile Design and Technology are design and product-based courses enabling students to produce fantastic fashion and textile pieces or even branch out into creative textiles based products. Fashion and Textile are taught in both Middle School and Senior School.
- Brooke G. Year 10.
- Year 10 Fashion Design.
Food and Technology
The food sector is dynamic, diverse and creative. Innovative food products are continually being introduced into the marketplace in response to changing social, economic and environmental needs of society. Technology plays an important role in food product development and the way food is produced, processed, packaged and marketed.
The study of Food and Technology enables students to acquire knowledge and skills to make informed choices when selecting, storing, purchasing, preparing and consuming foods that will contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Students learn to determine the best way to prepare and cook foods in a practical setting, design recipes and meals, produce food items and evaluate their work. Food and Technology is taught in both Middle School and Senior School.
