Early Learning
The year your child turns four is when they start the Little Beacons Early Learning Program.
Our commitment is that every child of this age is part of an educational program with a Kindergarten Teacher. The early years are the most important for establishing foundation skills for life; we see children develop into confident individuals in our Early Learning Programs.
Whether you are seeking sessional early learning, or early learning in combination with long day care, Little Beacons Learning Centre has a program to meet your child’s needs.
As with childcare, our rooms in early learning each reflect the outdoor environment and the child’s stage of development.
The Bushland View program combines early learning and childcarefor children attending four to five days a week and who are turning four during the year. Social and emotional development is the key focus here, with children encouraged to engage with peers, discuss ideas and listen to others.
Earth Elements is for children turning four during the year . Two programs are provided in this room; Tuesdays and Thursdays provide sessional programs and Monday, Wednesday and Friday combines early learning and childcare. Here children can expand their confidence, with ample opportunities to explore rocks, sand, dirt, gravel and timber. Children learn to develop independence and organisation in this supportive environment.
Bamboo Rainforest is a sessional early learning program for four to five year olds. Two programs are offered in this area, the first on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the second on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Here children track rainfall, care for a vegetable garden, water plants and discover recycling. They enjoy many visits from our Junior and Year 9 College students.
River Bend caters for early learning and long day care children, who attend either four or five days a week. This program encourages children to question, observe and interact with others and consolidate knowledge through project-based work. Again, children can be involved in the cultivation of the vegetable garden, water play and recycling as well as interacting with Junior and Year 9 College students who visit the Centre.
For pre-schoolers, the transitional opportunity to visit the College on small excursions gives children the confidence and excitement to begin their formal education.
Our team of Kindergarten teachers heads our Early Learning Programs. Each teacher holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching, or equivalent, which is a minimum four year qualification at university.
Early Learning Programs are also supported by a coordinator or a co-worker, who hold either a Diploma of Children’s Services or a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services.
