Silver and bronze at basketball nationals

Basketball teams from the College’s Pakenham Campus picked up a silver and bronze medal at the Australia Schools Championships, held in Bendigo from 5-9 December.

The Junior Boys’ team (Year 9 and 10) fought hard in the Gold medal play-off, scoring 38 to 55, while the Girl’s team (Years 7-10) beat the opposition team 54 to 46 in the Bronze medal play-off.

Both teams played six games in what was the tenth year of competition for the College at the national championships.

Teacher Kerry Burns said the students had all trained hard throughout the year and had competed in the GIS event and Victorian Championships as a lead-up to the nationals.

“They all had worked very hard together and were a credit to the College both on and off the court,” Ms Burns said.
