22 baptised at St Paul’s Chapel
Pakenham Campus Chaplain, The Rev. Peggy Kruse, led a baptism service for 22 young members of our College community on 13 November.
Rev. Kruse was surprised to receive the overwhelming number of requests for baptisms from parents of children at Little Beacons Learning Centre and the Pakenham Campus Junior School.
Without replacing the role of the local church, the College provides a faith community for many families in the form of baptisms, chapel services, weddings and funeral services.
Rev. Kruse said it was wonderful to be able to offer this baptism service to people who may not have otherwise been baptised. Because baptism is the way a person becomes part of the church community, the service was also about encouraging people to find their local church and connect with those congregations.
She described the three successive services on the day as “beautiful….the Holy Spirit was truly present that day”. Everyone who participated received a baptismal certificate and candle.
The water used in the baptism service signifies the cleansing from sin that Jesus’ death makes possible, and the new life that God gives us through the Holy Spirit.
I would like thank Rev. Kruse for leading the service and providing such a memorable experience for all families involved.
