Gymnastics GoldBerwick Campus student, Christine Bonfadini, won an individual gold medal representing Australia at the South African Gymnastic Games which took place in Cape Town from the 5-8 October 2011.

The Year 10 Beaconhills student was selected to compete in the ‘Nationals Level 9 Group.’ Gymnasts competed as a team and were also ranked individually.

Individually, Christine placed 1st on the most technically difficult apparatus, Beam, came 2nd on Floor and Vault and 4th on Bars.  She was delighted to beat her Personal Best score on both Beam and Bars by over one point in each case.
Christine was selected to represent Australia at the South African Gymnastic Games after she placed 7th overall in the Australian Nationals in Perth in July.

Her achievement is the culmination of seven years of dedication to her sport, having been coached in gymnastics since the age of eight. Her current program sees her train for 23.5 hours each week.

In 2012, Christine hopes to gain her Level 10 and maintain her current level of competitiveness.  For now, it is back to the classroom for the vibrant Year 10 student.
