Celebrating Performing Arts Excellence
Beaconhills was proud to acknowledge our history of high achieving Performing Arts students with the unveiling of our Top Class Banners on Wednesday, 14 September at the Pakenham Campus Performing Arts Auditorium.
Of the 10 alumni and one current student who were acknowledged, five were in attendance and those who were unable to attend were represented by their family members.
The invited audience of 30, which included Board Members and College Executive, were welcomed by Headmaster Tony Sheumack. Michelle Salewski, Head of Performing Arts, Pakenham Campus, introduced each student and individually announced their Top Class achievement.
The Top Class alumni were represented by Carrie-Anne Winder who responded on behalf of the group thanking the College for the belated acknowledgement. She talked of the wonderful memories she has about her performing arts days at Beaconhills and how her experiences at school have influenced her career and life beyond graduation.
Each past student and family was photographed with their banner and enjoyed a guided tour of the refurbished facility before joining the audience for the annual Performing Arts Showcase for Years 5-12.
As part of the concert evening, Mr Sheumack presented each Top Class student with a miniature version of their banner. Again, Carrie-Anne responded on behalf of the Top Class group and spoke to the audience of current students about the many performing arts’ opportunities that are open to them as Beaconhills students. She led the audience in a rousing version of “if you’re happy and you know it, get involved!” In closing she encouraged each student to “reach for the sky, but if you don’t make it know that the journey was worth the effort.”
