Beaconhills student hits a home run!
Beaconhills congratulates Middle School student, Oliver D, who has recently represented Australia at the Cal Ripken World Series Baseball League in Maryland, USA. The tournament ran from 12 – 21 August 2011. Australia placed fourth, winning three of their seven games.
Oliver, who competes at a State and local level, hopes to pursue a career in baseball, but he is currently juggling the demands of school and training commitments.
The Cal Ripken World Series is held annually and is a division of the Babe Ruth Baseball League. The competition brings together the best 12 years-and-under baseball teams from around the world, featuring ten teams representing different regions of the United States, as well as Australia, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Korea and Japan. Teams compete in a week-long tournament, culminating in playoffs and a championship match.
We wish Oliver all the best as he attends the 2011 Victorian try-outs in Perth in October.
