Success for Middle School Movie Makers
Still footage from the winning movie 'Tom's Cookie'
Congratulations to our Village Middle School students who placed third with their short film, Tom’s Cookie, in the Primary School division of the ‘3in6’ video competition. The competition is run by the Victorian Information Technology Teachers Association (VITTA) and attracted submissions from 30 schools across Australia.
The 3in6 is a challenge for school students to work closely together in a team to plan, film, edit and create a short video. In a race against time and the other school teams, they have just six hours to complete their three minute production. The competition also offers an animation category whereby schools are required to produce one minute of animation in six hours.
On the morning of the competition, teams are told two ‘secrets’ and must include them in the video they submit; one is an object or idea, and the other is words that must be verbally included in the video. There is a Primary, Junior and Senior school division for each of the categories.
Beaconhills will attend the awards ceremony on Tuesday 30 August as part of the VITTA’s annual conference.
