Senior School students perform a Japanese musical piece

With such strong French and Japanese programs at Beaconhills, I was pleased to see the range of activities that took place across our Middle and Senior Schools this week to celebrate LOTE week.

The Middle and Senior Schools at both campuses have enjoyed exotic food, plays, movies, songs and poetry. Students have undertaken a Japanese drawing workshop and hosted a group of 10 Japanese students. Our Year 12s have set off on the combined campus French Immersion trip with will see them undertake a full two days of activity.

As we know there are many advantages in studying LOTE, including social, cultural, economic and personal benefits.  Language is a key to understanding culture. Early exposure to other languages helps to develop insights into other societies, cultures and behaviours.

LOTE week offers a wonderful opportunity for Beaconhills students to step outside what is familiar and to really experience differences in culture.  Thank you to the staff who have contributed toward this comprehensive program of events.
