Tyler K impresses the judges

Berwick Campus students have had some excellent results in the recent Rostrum’s Voice of Youth public speaking competition.

Several students from Years 7-10 took part in the heats and semi-finals of the competition against a number of other Melbourne schools.

Two students who competed in the competition’s senior section, Luke M and Tyler K, won their first heats and were chosen from more than 60 students to compete against four other semi-finalists.

Head of The Beacon Program, Judy Barton, said reaching the semi-finals was a commendable effort, particularly for Luke, who was competing above his normal age division.

She said Beaconhills was the only school to have more than one student in the semi-finals -  a great start on which to build for the future.

Four students who were in the Under 15 section, Joshua H, Claire U, Claire S and Nicole S, did not place but they gained valuable public-speaking experience and are keen to enter future competitions. Well done to all students who competed.
