Congratulations to Holly L (Year 10, Pakenham Campus) who will join an international contingent of Scouts to visit Alaska and the USA in June.

Holly was chosen to join this contingent of four leaders and 11 Scouts, from the Whitehorse and Sherbrooke Scouting districts, for her general Scouting and leadership skills.

She is a member of the Upper Beaconsfield Venturer Unit and has also participated in the Emerald Cubs and Scouts.

Holly has obtained her Scout Medallion, which is the highest achievement for a Scout and comparable with the Queen’s Scout Award for a Venturer Scout.

She is now completing various training exercises as part of her preparation and has earned her Level 1 Canoeing Certificate. She also has to do her own fundraising to help finance the trip.

Her schedule will include hiking in Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula and six days of canoeing on the Swan Lake Trail. She will then fly to El Paso to stay with Scouting families and do caving and camping with El Paso Scouts.

Scouting is a great way to learn a range of skills and helps foster confidence and leadership while providing service to others. This is a commendable achievement and we wish Holly all the best in her Scouting endeavours.
