Berwick students win art prizes

Two students from the Berwick Campus have won prizes in the recent ‘Casey Creations’ art competition, run by the Casey Council as part of National Youth Week.
Amy C (Year 12) earned first prize in photography – Year 10-12 – for her compelling image of a cropped face, while Chelsea F ( Year 8 ) received a merit award in the Year 7-9 section for her cropped photographic image of a ‘pink lady’ flower.
The annual competition attracts hundreds of entries each year and aims to encourage young artists from across the municipality to share their artistic talents in visual arts (2D) and photography.
Casey Mayor Cr Shar Balmes says the number and range of entries has grown over the 10 years of the competition.

“The talent displayed by Casey’s younger generation as part of this competition is truly inspirational,” Cr Balmes says.
Entries this year included works from students in the Ermera District of East Timor, Casey’s Friendship City.
Amy and Chelsea have had their works professionally framed as part of their prize.
