We had some spectacular results in kayaking at the Victorian Schools Sprint Championships last weekend.

Beaconhills kayakers achieved three first places, two seconds, a third and a fifth – a fantastic effort considering they were competing against many schools with a long and strong tradition in the sport.

However, our kayakers have shown great dedication in their Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning training sessions at Aura Vale Lake. Credit also must go to our College kayaking coach Craig Pickett.

Congratulations to the following students:
Perri L (Year 12, Pakenham) – first place, U/18 K2
Liam T (Year 12, Pakenham) and Callum F (Year 11, Pakenham) – first place U/18 TK2
Liam T and Callum F – first place U/18 K2
Callum F – second place U/18 K1
Perri L – second place U/18 K1
Liam T – third place U/18 K1

A special mention must also go to Patrick R (Year 8, Valley), for whom these school championships were his first kayaking event and yet he managed to place fifth in U/14 TK1. A great result.

Well done to all the team members.
