Romy Madeley (Year 8, Berwick) has had her first taste of official duties as Casey’s Young Citizen of the Year for 2011.

She was called on to present native plants to new Australian citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony held at Casey Council on Thursday, 10 March.

It is the first of a number of official duties Romy will perform this year – along with citizenship ceremonies, she will attend various council functions and the Grand Prix.

Romy earned her Young Citizen of the Year award for her commitment to social justice.
