Courtney’s stellar cycling career

Year 8 student Courtney F (Berwick Campus) continues to go from strength to strength with a spectacular cycling win at the recent Victorian Junior Track Championships.
The 13-year-old broke the Australian Under 15 record for the 500m time trial, completing it in just 38.169, then broke the 200m trial record for Under 15 with a time of 13.094.She also won a third gold medal in a points race.
Courtney is in the Victorian state team and has been chosen for the National Talent Identification program, from which potential Olympic competitors are drawn. She is the youngest participant ever chosen for the program.
She hopes to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, but the next step is the Nationals in March in Sydney, then the Junior World Championships in two years.
Courtney developed an interest in cycling after participating in HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) racing at her previous school.
