The Benefits of Leadership
Berwick Campus 2010 school captains (l-r) Jessica Masters, Conor Rogers and Wynston Chew (Leaha-Marie Hill-Buxton absent).
One of the interesting features revealed in the analysis of our excellent VCE results was the clear link between leadership and academic success.
The benefits of taking on a leadership position such as school captain was borne out in results across both Pakenham and Berwick campuses.
At both campuses, all of our senior school captains and vice-captains scored an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) in the high 80s or above.
At Berwick Campus in particular, our four captains were among the group of top six scorers for the campus.
Taking on a leadership role not only gives students the opportunity to embrace the concept of community service, but the chance to enhance their own personal skills and attributes. Leadership helps build confidence, maturity, self-esteem, organisational skills and teamwork – all valuable life skills.
Beaconhills College offers all students, down to the youngest age, the chance to take on a variety of leadership roles in all aspects of College life. I would encourage all students to consider the benefits of these responsible and rewarding positions.
