I am delighted to announce Beaconhills College will award scholarships to 14 students for 2011 – four Academic scholarships and 10 for Performing Arts.

It is pleasing to note that increasing numbers of students from within the College each year are earning scholarships, with 10 students from Beaconhills qualifying for scholarships and four going to students from other schools.

We welcomed our new scholars at an afternoon tea last week, where some of our school leaders gave inspirational speeches about their experiences of being a Beaconhills scholar.

I think Valley Campus Senior School vice-captain Aidan K described the honour well, when he said his scholarship was “a great experience and a great privilege”.

Aidan, who has a Performing Arts Scholarship, told new scholars that the opportunity helped transform him from a shy, reserved student who had never sung at school, to a confident performer who could sing before hundreds and take the lead role in College productions.

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to our new scholars:

Academic   – Christopher G (Year 9), Rebecca S (Year 10), Molly F (Year 9) and Kathryn M (Year 10)

Performing Arts – Jack H (Year 7), Holly P (Year 10), Megan L (Year 6), Kyra G (Year 8), Brittany W (Year 8), Amy H (Year 7), Kaitlyn F (Year 9), Kaitiya B (Year 6), Meagan C (Year 7) and Thahani L (Year 8).
