A Spring in Their Step
The Dazzling Diamonds: (l-r) Georgina P, Courtney P, Hannah M (back), Kiara S (front), Nikki Z, Isla M and Jaymi M.
Our Pakenham Campus aerobics program earned another huge boost on the weekend, with our Year 5/6 team winning a gold medal in the State Spring Challenge.
The ‘Dazzling Diamonds’ staged a fantastic routine to the song ‘Because You Can’, from Moulin Rouge, in the Primary Novice section.
Jodie Doble, who choreographed and coached the girls, said they had put in an incredible effort into early morning and after school training sessions and deserved the win.
The State Spring Challenge is a huge competition, taking entries from all schools – state and private – along with fitness centres.
So it was also a commendable effort from our two other primary teams who also performed at an extremely high level.
‘Strawberry Kisses’ won fourth place overall in the Stage One section, narrowly missing out on a medal place by one point. And ‘Beacon Devils’ placed within the top 15 schools in the same section.
Congratulations also to the ‘Valley Stars’ (our current State and National champions) who took the silver medal in a competitive Secondary Stage One section, and the ‘Beacon Belles’ who placed fourth, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal.
It was a great way to finish a very successful year of aerobics for the College.
