Athletes Make Great Strides
Adam B (centre) on the track at Olympic Park.
Our Berwick Campus athletes continue on the fast-track to success with some great results this week in two separate competitions.
A squad of 114 students travelled to Olympic Park, Melbourne on Tuesday to compete in the SIS (Southern Independent Schools) Athletics.
We had some fantastic individual and team results. The Under 14 girls and the Under 16 boys won the team pennant, and, as a combined team, Beaconhills College finished second overall.
Adam B (Year 9) was the Under 15 male age group champion for the day, competing in shot put, long jump, 100m, 400m and 200m. Jordan R (Year 12) was the Under 21 male age group champion for the day, gaining first place in high jump, triple jump and long jump.
At the Flintoff-King Regional Athletics, held the next day at Frankston, we had 10 students competing, with six athletes qualifying for the State competition in Bendigo at the end of October.
Congratulations to Oscar C for winning the Under 11 triple jump, Kade L for finishing second in the Under 12/13 1500m and fifth in the 800m, Jackie F for second place in the Under 12/13 100m and 200m and the Under 11 boys’ relay team for finishing second.
A great effort from all students who competed.
